8 Reasons for Hurtful Posts

I’m about the finish my first book and have started writing the second. I’m trying to implement the advice on “how to connect with others” so that someone, anyone will read the book I just took years to write. I was told that one way to find people to read your book is to comment on books and articles others have written. This is what the research encourages you to do. So in the spirit of being a good student I joined a few Christian book communities and comment boards. I honestly don’t know what to do or say, so I thought I would read what others do so that I would have a clue.

If I do what many others do, I would nitpick, fault find and belittle those whom I do not agree with.  I would make it my goal to tell someone who just wrote a book on a subject, that they are basically wrong and need to rewrite their book so I agree with it. Not everyone is critical, but so many are, that I started wondering “why are we so negative?”

I know that the Bible tells us that “from the heart the mouth speaks,” but does that include blogs, posts and comments on public boards. Do we speak and comment from the heart. If so, there are a lot of people who say they are followers of Jesus who have “bad hearts.” I wanted to help all those people with “bad hearts” wake up and see the kindness of the Lord. I was going to post “being critical” is not the same as “being talented” but they I thought “what was in my heart” and “could I spell all the words correctly?” I started to wonder if I should write “wakeup,” wake-up” or “wake up.” Shirley and her mom would not answer my text so I didn’t post.

So, here is my reflection on why I make bad comments toward people I don’t even know these people, but they are a target because they posted something.
1.       I think I am right and others should benefit from my wisdom. People should be able to change their thinking and see things correctly, agreeing with me. Those who disagree with me tend to be deceived.
2.       I don’t think. I just share my opinion. My post may not even be my honest opinion, one that I have truly thought through, it is just my opinion in the moment and I have a right/responsibility to share it.
3.       I’m trying to be funny but my mean spirit took over.
4.       I believe that comments and post are there for me to correct. People are not posting to share what they believe, they are posting so that I respond and help restore them to a proper balance.
5.       Someone put cream in my coffee and someone has to pay.
6.       This person who I am blasting has blasted others. I am going to help them see how bad they hurt others by hurting them. I’m going to use evil to drive out evil. I’m going to yell so that everyone stops yelling.
7.       I felt God told me to. I felt God impress on me that I am wise enough, talented enough, have a great enough anointing that this person will come to love all that I am and be honored that I corrected them.

8.       I just clicked the mouse and a spirit of stupid came over me.

PS:
If you would like information about my new book, just send me a email or FB message. I am sure you will be blessed by all the wisdom and insights I share. To help make it worth what you pay for it, I am going to have free distribution days. That is my plan to avoid comments like, "not worth the price of the book." I would tell you the title of the book but some people have informed me that the title was so bad that no one would ever read the book. Thank God I did't show them my cover idea.

Well, I got to get back to those comment boards and build up some connections. Hope you all have a good day and may the spirit of stupid be ever far from you.

Rod D.
