In 2004 I wrote out a prayer for the church. I am going to share it here. It is a small reflection that people have been crying out to God for years. In fact, for over 2000 years people have been a part of the prayer movement, the worship movement and the world evangelization movement. We, in our time, get to do our part.
Our Father in heaven, You are Holy. Holy is your name.
We ask you Father to help your church. Daily we are bombarded with the things of this world. Daily we are tempted to chase after wealth, success, human beauty, personal identity, worth, value and purpose. We are tempted everyday to fall in love with the thing of this world. We can barely see your, are eyes are full of earthly things.
We the church, the Bride of Christ, call out. “We want to see Jesus”! Take are cars, our homes, our insurance, our jobs; take it all, we want Jesus. We call out in this generation, everything we have is as filthy rags, we want you.
Before you come and rule in our nation, rule in our hearts. Help those who say they are the people of God , live like you want us to. we want to be 100% obedient to your every wish. We want to totally die to our selves, our careers, our desires, our agenda’s and live only for you.
Convict us of sin so that nothing stands between us and you. Don’t allow us to look at nay lustful or evil thing. Don’t allow us to have anger, un-forgiveness, pride or self-love.
Maybe you can write you own addition to the prayer that offers up surrender of cellphones, ipads, ipods and other tech stuff that gets a hold of our heart and priorities.
